Keep McLennan County Beautiful’s Used Tire Recycling Day, sponsored by Keep Waco Beautiful, will be held at HOT Fair Grounds, 42nd Street parking lot. This event is open to all residents of McLennan County. Up to 8 tires accepted per address from 8am until noon. Small fee for extra tires or larger tires. Not OTR or tractor tires accepted.
September 27, 2008 - National Public Lands Day - 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm
Keep Waco Beautiful invites local volunteers to join us as we partner with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to participate in the largest annual coast-to-coast, single day volunteer restoration effort for public lands. Locally volunteers will paint BBQ pits and trim trees at Midway Park, paint shelter posts and pick up trash at Twin Bridges Park, and plant and remove plants at the Waco Wetlands. We will meet at Speegleville Park, 3201 Highway 6. Bring a sack lunch if you plan to stay all day. Volunteers will receive a free day entry to a public land site anywhere in the U.S.

October 1 - December 14 - National Arbor Day Poster Contest
KWB will offer curriculum and contest guidelines to all local schools (5th graders)and will assist with judging. One winner will be selected per region in Texas. One Texas winner will then be selected to compete nationally. Winners announced in the Spring. This year's theme is "Trees are terrific........in cities and towns."

McLennan County School Recycle Competition - Help your local school. Save paper, cardboard, aluminum October 14th - November 14th. Winners go to SeaWorld!
2nd Chance Clothes - Please save gently worn business clothes, October 14th - November 14th. Drop them by Compassion Ministries, Mission Waco, Christian Women's Job Corp. Help the residents of these agencies as they interview for jobs.
ReUse Roundup - Join KWB, TxDOT, and Goodwill. Donate items to be resold and reused on November 14th.

Neighborhood Cleanup - Neighborhood Associations interested in cleaning, contact KWB for a roll-off, gloves, trash bags, or other supplies. Baylor Steppin' Out is available for volunteer help.
Art Center Beautification - Join KWB as we remove invasive vine, paint railings, and beautify the area around the Art Center Waco.

Arthritis Foundation, JayCees, Downtown Merchants Association, Historic Waco Foundation will join Keep Waco Beautiful for its 28th annual city wide holiday celebration. Participate in The Jingle Bell Run, enjoy the Christmas Parade, and watch the lighting of the City Christmas Tree. Santa will be on hand to hear your wish list.

After the presents are unwrapped, it's time to recycle your Christmas tree. Bring your tree to KWB at Paul Tyson Field parking lot and watch the tree turn into a bag of mulch that you can use on your own lawn or garden. You will also receive a small native tree sapling.

Keep Waco Beautiful invites the public to attend the 137th observance of Arbor Day. The celebration will be held this year at Meadowbrook Elementary, 4315 Beverly Drive. A tree will be planted, Arbor Day Proclamation made and the Tree City USA flag will be presented to the city by the Texas Forestry Service.

May 7, 2009 - Keep Waco Beautiful's annual “Partners in Pride” Awards Ceremony - 6:00 p.m.
Awards emphasize the important role citizens, businesses, schools, organizations, and others play in improving the environment. Submit your own, your neighbor’s, your group’s litter prevention, cleanup, recycling, beautification or environmental awareness/education project for recognition by April 16th. The awards program is open to community organizations, youth groups, businesses, schools and individuals that have demonstrated their commitment to our city’s cleanliness and beauty. Any program, project or individual effort, big or small, done between April 1, 2008 and April 1, 2009 is eligible for an award.
